We are proud to spotlight recent coverage in The Star and FMT of Lian Wai Bee’s inspiring debut, Embracing Imperfections: Women’s Stories of Triumph, which launched at WORQ Subang on Sept 28. This deeply personal collection shares the powerful stories of four women who turned hardship into resilience, celebrating vulnerability and the courage to rise above life’s challenges.

As Lian describes, “Writing this book was a journey of healing, not just for myself but for every woman who has ever felt less than she is.” Her journey into authorship stems from years of mentorship with Project Girls for Girls, an NGO focused on empowering young women. Each story within Embracing Imperfections reveals a unique struggle, and together, they remind us that imperfection is part of growth.

Highlights from the Coverage:

Triumphant Stories: The book celebrates women like the late Janet Lee, a dedicated artist who, despite her struggles with epilepsy and cancer, left an enduring legacy; Suanne Lai, who found her strength after trauma and a decade as a stay-at-home mother; Chen Wai Ling, who overcame severe injury to co-found a fitness club; and Lolitta Suffian, who rebuilt her life after divorce.

An Empowering Message: WORQ’s CEO, Stephanie Ping, shared, “We are proud to champion this message at WORQ. Lian has beautifully captured not only her own journey but also the resilience and courage of these remarkable women. Their stories of triumph in the face of adversity are a testament to the transformative power of vulnerability and community support.”

Lian’s journey is a heartfelt reminder that, while the path to self-empowerment may be challenging, sharing our experiences can inspire and uplift others.
